She believed that her educational institutions must give to each student the experience and the yearning for abundant life, which God has promised to all. Hence the emphasis in Carmel School is on spiritual values, character building and the leadership.
Such goals can never be achieved without those qualities of scholarship, indefatigability, compassionate, service and spiritual depth which are exemplified in the life of the Sisters of the Carmelite order which Mother Veronica established.The soil was rich, quick the root pierced in and upward shot the blade of green. The seed sown over a hundred and fifty years ago sprout into a mighty tree, its branches spreading over the length and breadth of India and Sri Lanka, reaching even to Pakistan, Kuwait, Rome, Africa, Tanzania, France, Geneva and Bahrain.
Rooted in the contemplative spirit of Carmel, and nourished by its life of prayer and missionary zeal, the Apostolic Carmel Congregation expresses the vitality of the Church through its fruitfulness in the active apostolate of Education and other works of mercy. The A.C. Institution gives Education a wideness, a depth, a vision, new life, new hope, new vista through praying together, working together and serving others through work and through worship. And at the dawn of the Third Millennium our Foundress stirs us to the challenges of the new evangelization to proclaim the Good News and to launch out into a new Civilizations of love” expressed through our mission. Mother Veronica urges us to get more involved in the upliftment of the poor, the sick, the neglected, the marginalized and in every area of misery.
Carmel School, Bokaro Thermal was founded on 7th January, 1955 at the invitation of the D.V.C. It prepares the students for Indian Council of Secondary Education, (I.C.S.E.) New Delhi and Indian School Certificate (ISC) New Delhi. It is under the religious jurisdiction of the Roman Catholic Bishop of Hazaribag. The medium of instruction is English. Hindi has a vital role in the curriculum.
This school though a Catholic, is open to girls & boys of all castes and creeds. The aim of the School is to give an all –round formation to the Catholic community but extends its services to the members of other communities, irrespective of caste and creed, to enable them to fulfill their role in life as truly integrated personalities.
